The Best Places for a Valentine’s Getaway
February is here and Cupid is knocking on our doorsteps. Valentine’s Day is coming!
Most couples go on romantic dinner dates on February 14. Think candles, bouquets of roses, boxes of chocolates, and wine. Can’t get any more romantic than that, yes?
For others, however, a change of scenery is necessary.
Some folks prefer to fly out and travel somewhere far from home. V-Day’s the perfect excuse to pack your bags and take a break from your usual lives. What isn’t romantic about traveling together?
Is 2023 the Year of Valentine’s Getaways?
Many people apparently agree with that sentiment this year. Why? An Allianz Partners USA report revealed that searches for Valentine’s Day travel plans had a whopping 45% spike compared to 2022.
The company did a thorough review of over 700,000 itineraries for round-trip flights from American airports dating February 2 to 6, with return dates between February 9 to 16. After much investigation, they also discovered that 71% of those itineraries were for domestic trips. International travels accounted for the remaining 29% of them.
According to a GetYourGuide study, 77% of Americans prefer having experiences over getting physical gifts. Travel is definitely a great medium for that! It lets you learn and do things you otherwise won’t do at home. You also get to meet people who’ll broaden your perspectives, making room for personal growth.
Where to Travel
Consider adding these places to your list of options:
Krabi, Thailand
See the featured photo above? That’s Krabi — an island on southern Thailand’s west coast.
Its limestone cliffs offer tourists adventures they won’t want to miss. If you’re an adrenaline junkie, you can go zip-lining through its forests. You can also explore its caves and trek its jungles. Water canoeing and quad biking are also fun activities you can try.
End a jam-packed day by lounging on its beautiful beaches. You won’t regret making your way down to this tropical gem.
Carcassonne, France
This southern French city is a living medieval fairy tale — minus the plague and tight corsets, of course. February is the perfect time to visit this fortified area as tourists swarm the place during the summer. Feast your eyes on its majestic fortifications, such as the famous Cité de Carcassonne (pictured above).
Venice, Italy
Imagine cozying up to your lover on a gondola and taking in colorful architecture along the way. That’s Venice for you!
This northeastern Italian city has more than just gondolas to its name. The Venetian capital is also famous for the Carnevale di Venezia (or the Carnival of Venice), with people donning elaborate masks and celebrating the day away. The dates change every year because it depends on the date of Easter on the religious calendar.
This 2023, festivities begin on February 4 and end on the 21st. Join in on the fun if you can!
Mauna Kea, Hawaii
Mountains remind us just how powerful Mother Nature is. People are naturally drawn to things bigger than them, so it’s no surprise why many people like hiking them.
Add Mauna Kea to your list! This Hawaiian mountain is perfect for stargazing. Its high, dry, and dark summit allows you to gaze deep into the milky sky.
What are you waiting for? Pack your bags and head out for a Valentine’s getaway with your lover! It’ll be an experience to remember forever.
