According to 2019 statistics, approximately 220 million people are on online dating websites.

As of today, that number continues to grow, as online dating has become a go-to means for those who are looking for a serious or casual relationship.

You only need to open an app or website on your phone to start meeting potential partners.

However, meeting the perfect match is not that easy. You need to go through these stages first.

Peer Pressure

In this first stage, you don’t really know what online dating is or how it’s supposed to work. One of your friends might have had a dating profile and they taught you how to make one, or you learned about it through advertisements on social media.

When it seems like everyone else is doing it, you tend to succumb to the pressure. It’s either you are hopeful about finding a partner or you simply want to know what the buzz is all about.

In the end, you choose a specific app and create a dating profile.

Endless Swiping

Your dating activity usually looks like this: You look at someone’s profile, you swipe right or left, and you look at another person’s profile and repeat the process.

At this stage, it can feel like you’re trying to find a needle in a haystack, as there are tons of profiles to browse, regardless of what dating website you’re on.

Even after you find a match, you continue going over the same process. Do you know why? Because swiping is addictive.

This is no secret since dating apps in general want you to stay on their platform.

As such, they will continue to put out dating profiles that they think you will like.

The First Perfect Match

This is the stage where you match with someone you’re compatible with. You hit it off after your first few interactions and you continue getting to know each other and talk about your interests.

At this stage, you are so hopeful that you think that this is it — they are the person you have been looking for.

Despair

Unfortunately, your match is not that perfect after all. They either blocked you or left your messages unread.

In the end, you are left in despair and wish to never go through the same thing again as you push the “Delete your Account” button.

Second Chance

You have been living your life. You are happy and content with your relationship with friends and family. However, there is still something missing — a partner. So, you give online dating a second chance.

In this case, you can either reinstall the dating app you once used or take advantage of a matchmaking website.

Meeting Your Ideal Partner in Person

At this stage, you are still uncertain of what the future awaits, but you have taken another plunge.

In any case, it’s no longer about going through endless swiping. You put in the time, money, and effort into your search for love, and you even sign up with a matchmaking platform.

In a twist of fate, your efforts are no longer in vain. You found “the one” after multiple steps and missteps with the help of a professional matchmaker.

Happy at Last

After going on several virtual and physical dates, you confirm that their love is pure.

You delete your account on the dating website. But unlike before, you have now found a good, genuine match.

Take the Plunge and Find “The One”

Finding genuine love is not easy.

Dating websites can help in your search, but you need effort and patience as well.

Unless you are willing to take the risk and experience all the aforementioned stages, you will never find a desirable partner on the Internet.
